Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the ruling coalition is prepared to study and investigate the rising issue of human trafficking taking place under the guise of visit visas.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at the premises of the Parliament building, Prachanda emphasized that a positive environment has developed among both ruling and opposition parties following the government's commitment to probe the issue. He noted that the problem is not limited to one particular Home Minister but is a deep-rooted issue within Nepal’s immigration system.
“This is not just a matter of one Home Minister,” Prachanda said. “The immigration problem has been worsening for years. After discussions between the ruling and opposition parties, and following the ruling coalition’s commitment to conduct a thorough study and take concrete action through structural reforms, a very positive atmosphere has emerged.”
He also mentioned that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has expressed interest in further dialogue with ruling party members before allowing Parliament proceedings to resume. “Some of our colleagues still want more discussions before moving forward,” he said.
Prachanda concluded by acknowledging that the issues at the Immigration Department have persisted for a long time and stressed the importance of serious cooperation between both the government and opposition to bring lasting solutions.
